Tools to Help You Navigate Emotions in the Workplace

On today's episode, we're diving into the topic of emotional intelligence and how that affects the culture of our organizations.  When we lead teams or organizations, it's essential for us to understand how we feel and why we feel a certain way.  The culture of our organization is guided or influenced by those emotions.  As leaders, we must strive to understand our feelings and how they contribute to our organization's climate and our team's dynamics.

I offer you two fundamental questions that I use when I'm trying to navigate my emotions, on or off the clock!  They are simple reminders to help you dig into your emotional "love tank" and develop deeper areas of self-awareness.

  1. How do I feel?

  2. Why do I feel the way that I feel?

As leaders, we are entrusted with the care and safekeeping of others.  But understanding our own emotions and how they affect others is critical to lead ourselves and others well!

Check out this interesting article from Harvard Business Review called, "Managing Your Emotional Culture" to learn why feelings matter just as much as how employees think or behave: https://hbr.org/2016/01/manage-your-emotional-culture#:~:text=The%20Reason,as%20you%20do%20their%20mindset.   Don't forget to leave a comment or review!   If you'd like to be a guest on the show, visit www.danitacummins.com/podcast to learn more!
